Black Rock

Fair enough, but the Black Rock plan clearly requires the oranges to become oranges for the guaranteed lifetime income. Maybe more of a SPIA when annuitized woth the 2 insurers Black Rock has chosen to be the income annuity component. I thought it looked alot like the Principal DIA offering I had seen the day before.

Dude. I explained it already.

Its a Mutual Fund, with a Prospectus.

Zero annuity component.

It is classified as a Target Date Fund.

It uses an algorithm to allocate to a bond ladder or bond funds to create the guaranteed income, when the time comes.

Guaranteed Income investments have around for 100+ years.... Bonds. Still talking about apples here, no oranges involved.

Lastly, of this is nothing new, why the Black Rock announcement of their new offering? Even the CEO calls it revolutionary in the media announcement, that gave me the impression it is something completely new

Marketing spin.

And in the QP world, CNBC is the last place serious players market.

Go read PlanSponsor magazine and you will see ads for the competitors.

Here is a 2020 marketing piece from LFG on theirs. But its been around longer than that. It actually shows the allocations and how they change over time.

I guess where I got confused is where both Black Rock & LFG mention in their documents that it is an annuity contract and/or specific insurance carriers involved. dont have much experience where mutual funds are also called annuities. Sounds to me the accumulation phase is a basket of target date mutual funds, then an offering to move a portion into an insurance carriers lifetime annuity stream. Principal document clearly calls their lifetime income potion a deferred income annuity

Blackrock calls attention to Brighthouse & Equitable as the carriers offering the annuity contracts for the option to annuitize a portion with those specific carriers
