Buying a STRUCTERED SETTLEMENT cash flow

I just made a response based on the wording in your original post.

If FIAs have other ways to provide lifetime income besides a rider I apologize because I don't have knowledge of those products.

I do know the Income Rider FIAs I have purchased are different than the structured payment stream products offered by DCF. And the purchase customizations offered by DCF really allow a person to place both types of products in their retirement funds base obtaining the maximum benefit from each. This was discussed in the podcast.
My original post wasn't directed towards you.

SPIAs and DIAs are different than FIAs with income riders but I didn't (at the time) understand the reason for the original post. Hence my inclusion of that product.

I don't really care what was discussed in some podcast because I know this market VERY well and I am an expert in the distribution of assets. I have specialized in this market for over 20 years.

I wish you luck in whatever you end up doing.

Thank you for the comments.

I have deleted most of my posts above because I have just discovered they were based on a flawed understanding of SMA's.

Your posts here have demonstrated the depth of experience and knowledge you refer to above and I am still interested in any comments you would care to make to the question I originally asked of you back a ways in the thread.

( I haven't had any assets to be concerned about how to distribute for most of the time period you referenced above, so this is all new to me. I have an ethical responsibility to a number of dead people to make effort and take care in regard to choices I make about the money I am dealing with.)

I haven't been able to come up with the thread to go back to and comment in, so this is as good a place as any. I appreciate the time and patience you (and others) have taken in answering my annuity questions over the last months. Considering that my starting point was to buy a MYGA with a lifetime income rider, all the comments I have received here have enabled me to make income rider purchases with a higher level of benefit to me, and to make those purchases with a reasonable level of confidence I was making wise choices. (Finding an agent to broker those purchases was a second project from hell but I did finally get purchases made.)

As far as the SMA's are concerned, I need to listen to 3-4 hours of podcasts next week and think about them. I don't want to get trapped in analysis paralysis but I have discovered I need a broader perspective of the product, its legal risks, and the marketing organizations before I make a decision. Joy, joy, joy. I could not do this stuff effectively for 40 years in my business career, now I must attempt to start from zero and be doing it wisely in a few months.
