Buying Life Insurance Leads?

Sits back and waits for all the lead venders to pile on.....Paging Mr. Levy, Paging Monti Ray

Budgetlife has worked very well for us over the years. The lead pricing is $6 for people under 40, $30 for people over 40. Their website is Term Life Insurance - Quotes from Top Term Life Insurance Companies and is run by Terry Burt. You can tell him you were referred by Michael Goldenzweig (and no, we don't get anything for these referrals).

Really....this is what I got...

All of his kids are licensed in every state and buy leads from him. We have questioned him about this kind of cherry-picking before, but given the leads we have received from them, we can't complain. One lead last year turned into a six-figure commission that could have easily been cherry-picked, had one last month for $3 million on a 72-year-old, and one this week for $3 million on a company CEO. No complaints here. We probably close ~10-15% of the leads we get from them.

What's nice is that when someone submits a lead like you did, it only shows the name of one agent who they can contact or will be contacting them. Many lead sites will show a list of 3-5 agents and then have links to other websites, as I'm sure you know.

I am a somewhat new insurance agent so i am not sure how much my advice is worth. I am friends with a real estate agent however that literally knocks on doors and passes out his business card on saturday morning and afternoon. With insurance you know that everyone has a need for it. 75 percent of america is either uninsured or underinsured. Knock on doors and get appointment for the afternoon or evening of a day rather than a specific time. Its a numbers game. The more people you get appintments with the more people you see the more people will eventually buy.

STI, I found a Christopher Claude Burt on the TDI website.

Zina, if you are going to use the white pages you should start at the back with the Z's and go backward to the A's; however, that suggestion comes with this CAVEAT: you have to be certain the people you are calling are not on the DNC list, be aware that otherwise you are exposing yourself to hefty fines. A "scrubbed DNC" list from a list company is worth the money for the peace of mind and can keep you out of trouble. Since most list are not exclusive IMO working from Z to A still applies.:)

So far in the past 2 weeks from Budgetlife leads, we have written a $7k annual premium, $2500 annual premium, a $4000 annual premium, and a $900 annual premium, Not a bad haul from 14 total leads....there was also a couple of leads that had premiums over $5k, but we haven't been able to get ahold of them yet.

Also, if you search the last name "Burt" on the Texas DOI as you suggested STI....you will see the name Burt, Christopher McClelland, from Mesa, Arizona, which I believe is his son (and would correspond to the initials in his email address).
