California FE Agents

why are agents afraid to tell the FMO they won't sign up unless they get an open release?

Then it really doesn't matter if you want a divorce. Amazing how many want to avoid the subject and feel they have to spread things out and makes things so difficult.

I know its a hassle to negotiate the release and many won't give it.

I have contracts with several guys here. Todd, Brad, Rick I like them or I would not contract with them. But if we split the sheets today I am still working tomorrow.

Maybe for you but I see that as bad advice.

So who is right? Probably no one. Different experiences with different people. Example, you and Travis may be able to walk away from EFES with full releases. Others have said they could not. Different experiences with the same organization. Today Todd can say he will release me, but gets pissed off at me tomorrow and then says he won't. I lose.

If I have contracts spread out over a couple of the best guys (in my opinion) how do I lose?

I totally agree. You never know what could happen. Don't put all your eggs in one basket.

So how have you been James? Give me a call sometime and we can catch up. Lee

What I like now is some companies are giving the same production number while not having to release you to another IMO. I personally like the 2 IMO's I am dealing with. One takes care of my big term cases and are always available to me for questions and advice. Matter of fact, I have one contact there and since I just placed my biggest term case of the year with him, I get some priority;).

The other one is my main go to IMO for FE. He gives me a good deal for agents that I hire along with a solid lead program that is just now taking off.

I would like to add one other IMO like Ritter for my Med Sup business, somebody that more specializes in Med Sup and MA along with LTC.

It is a fallacy for a new agent to think someone is going to give them training and help with leads AND give them a release. It isn't going to happen due to the necessary investment. For an experienced agent who doesn't need all that, then it is a different story.

I agree. Hence a reason not to going all in on one horse.

It's not necessarily the IMO that releases you, it could be an MGA they are contracted with. Your upline is not necessarily part of the IMO hierarchy. And these transfer holds are all pretty understandable. Could you imagine the chaos if agents played FE musical chairs constantly? I was ready to transfer 2 weeks in after my useless bogus phone leads.

If you are confident in your upline then I don't see an issue with 1, or if you have a guaranteed release from the entire hierarchy. If not, a little distribution is good. I personally go direct with who I can then do the rest under uplines when I have to.
