I just got my Texas Life Insurance. I originally signed up with Symmetry but now I am having second thoughts since I am learning more about the industry. I have not been contracted with any of the carriers yet because they were waiting on my license. I am not new to sales, but new to the industry. Like anything else the more people you can speak to the better chances you have to be successful. As a newbie, what do you guys suggest I should do?

Thanks,

Question: Are you planning on selling Final Expense life insurance, Mortgage Protection or a different target market (online)?

I rather sell in person. As far as any particular product I was leaning more towards final expense, however, not sure if its wise to put all my eggs in one basket. Any IMO's you recommend looking at?

I am looking for direction on which IMO would be my best fit for the Houston, TX area.

Thanks,

I would recommend going to fexcontracting.com and reading up a bit on FE before contracting with anyone. Including FEX.

It really depends on what you are looking for.

If you want in person training Matt Mungia is right there in TX.

- Fexcontracting (Newby)

- EFES (Equita)

- UFES (Doug Massey)

- Todd King

Just a few off the top of my head that I have heard good things about that can send you in the right direction!

Symmetry's business model is based on "recruit, recruit, recruit" and the commissions are tied to high personal production AND building a team. I wouldn't recommend any new agent sign with an IMO that offers such a low starting commission and there are great financial risks to building a team.

I think JD & Glen gave you excellent info since you are leaning toward FE.

Work for a big company like, Thrivent, New York Life, or Northwestern Mutual. And then find an IMO to fill the gaps. IMOs are all about the same. If you sell life you need a big company to train you and get access to non brokerage products. Or agent only products. Single year life, 5 year term, term with benefits, etc etc.
