Car in Storage for 5 Months-

My car has been in storage for 5 mos. at $16 day. Ins. had wanted to move it like 3 mos. ago. I said NO since they did not meet any of my conditions-like pay for my rent car. They were being incorrigible-putting it mildly. My then atty. did nothing to help with this matter. I say, if I accept their SMALL settlement on my car, I need to sell my old totalled car myself to help defray the cost of my replacement car-well now that money will go to the STORAGE guy. As STATE FARM says they will only pay for first 30 days-which the agent did NOT even report my claim for 30days-seems they should have allowed for 60 days-which was a problem again for them. As they wanted the cake, the plate and the kitchen too! I work hard for anything and CANNOT afford to just give it away to ANYONE! I expect to be made whole-like the ins. industry "braggs" that they do for folks? Nothing extra. As I had tried to get the one hour waiting to get the rent car and the one hour wait to turn in the car, plus the $25 admin. fee, all which SF or ALL State would not re-imburse for.

I'm sure some of the P&C guys will be along soon. However you have a duty to mitigate your losses. The insurance Company wanted to move the car into on of thier lots and you refused. I don't see them budging on the amount of storage they will pay for.

Norwayguy is our honorary P&C guy for this thread. He nailed it.

Since you've spread this claim over several threads (I'll combine them when I get a chance), let me point out that agents don't normally report claims, you do. The agent can facilitate this, but without firsthand knowledge, it is better for you to call the claims center.

Where the car is stored and processing the claim are 2 separate issues. If State Farm was willing to store the car, you should have allowed this. It would still be your car till the claim was settled, just not running up storage fees. And no, they won't be held hostage to paying storage fees to offer you a better settlement.

What I suggest is you sit down and read through your policy. Most of the issues you are having are addressed there.

Also, you don't set the price for your car, the fair market does. They should be able to show you how they came up with their settlement offer, what they compared it against, etc.

I try to live by the REAL GOLDEN RULE: DO unto others as you would have them do unto you. But get real, this is not the same days, type of world we live in TODAY! So, again, like you said, Money talks and BS walks! The real problem, is folks just take what the insurance companies dish out, because they get tired, work a real job all day,do not make the rules, and the list goes on, all in the favor of BIG business, we march to their tune;that is the true definition of insanity=same as BIG Brother. NO change=no change. Thanks for all your post and it just reminds me again of another one of life's unfair lessons! AND I need to live by Biblical Law, as ALL folks should=justice truly.Just don't ask or wonder WHY some folks do go POSTAL!
