Carvedilol

Ran into 2 prospects with CHF and on carvedilol. The best I've been able to do is graded. Seems like a long shot, but I was curious if there are any carriers out there that would do level benefit?

The manual says that prescription meds are considered current treatment. If you guys have had cases like this and they've gone through standard I will give it a shot.

A prospect with CHF is not going to qual for much other than ROP... if CHF was or is truly the diagnosis.

Now, Carvedilol can be prescribed for various treatment reasons... weak pumping heart (aka CHF) is one of them. Treatment following a HA (possibly due to heart muscle damage and weak pumping heart) is another.. but this med can also be used for as simple as HBP control with no heart damage; it is a beta-blocker.

I spoke with underwriting with AmCon and they said they would take this type of case as Graded. Both prospects said they only had CHF, so it was not in conjunction with any other condition which is why they could qualify for graded.

Thought question 6b should be a yes because the carvedilol is considered treatment?

I had a client on meds (Not sure if it was carvedilol or something else) for CHF, but no oxygen, so I submitted it standard with Monu. I told him, im not sure this will go thru, and if it doesnt, ill come back & write u a ROP policy...he was fine with that. 3 days later it was approved by Monu!

Try that approach!

Can't hurt to try! Thanks Cali.

Im not completely sure. But I think I've called Monu on CHF, and they said no matter when diagnosed with CHF they would be a yes to their question on 6b.)

Did you document that they had CHF, and thats what the meds were for or just answer 7b.) yes.??

Im not discouraging what you did by any means, but now I am just really curious. Because I'll attempt to put my CHF people with monumental std. if thats the case.
