Cater to Military Needs

I am on the verge of reaching independence from my current captive company, and wanted to ask those in the field, what companies cater well to military needs for deployment well? This is certainly a question I have for my new underwriters directly, but thought maybe you all could give me guidance on the situation.

Much of what I've seen need for, I'm in a highly military populated area where most enlisted see 9 month or more deployments. My state, VA, requires liability on any registered vehicle or a heavy fine and suspension of a license, and as you all know, lenders require comp and collision. I've run across in competitive situations where some companies will continue this coverage, however, they allow significant credit for those deployed and storing (off base included) their vehicles so they meet the requirements of the state and lender. I'm particularly curious about the young enlisted members who are charged a pretty premium for being youthful.

I definitely don't mind doing the homework on this once I'm started, but if you all can make some recommendations of where to start, I'd greatly appreciate it.

I only know of USAA. They cater specifically to military. Some companies might have minor discounts related to military. One of our companies will give you a prior insurance discount even if you didn't have any if the reason you didn't have insurance was because you just got off a deployment.

I don't think you need to look any farther than USAA. Very low rates and they score very high on claims satisfaction surveys. My friend is a sgt. in the army an he onlys pays $60ish a month for two cars, both w/ comp and collision.

USAA does not have an IA distribution channel. Carriers do not like to have comp only auto's, then add the rest as needed, then remove again; And as an agent you don't either. Carriers also have issues with military....age, and there has been times when they are off base that claims do occur....

Your thougths on going AI....make a plan is all I have to say...

Good Luch and Good Selling!

Thanks AZ Dave. I've run into a lot of that with carriers I've seen. Nice to know it's just not out there from someone in the business.

As for a plan, it's a very well thought out one three years in the making. I appreciate the concern and thought, looking forward to executing the plan finally.
