Hey guys.
I know not all teachers are created equal so I assume the same to be true for licensing exam courses.

I live in the tampa area and am curious if anyone has used a particular course that they would recomend in obtaining their life license. Or ones to stay away from.

All feedback appreciated.
Thanks

Hey guys.

I came into this thread because of the "Central Florida" in the thread. I'm near Orlando.

Lots of new agents that I know (my son included) have opted for the online licensing courses. While I love technology and am all about doing everything possible online for convenience, what I've seen repeatedly is that the online modules are too convenient. That is, people do everything else except want to sit there and self-motivate at "their pace" to get it done. It's only 40 hours!

Conversely, in 1995 when I got my license, I went to two weekend's worth of intense classroom teaching. It was 10 hours a day, all day Saturday and Sunday. There was enough time left over on the last day to cram for the state test, based on the latest information brought back from recent students.

This fast-paced class seemed to fly by because was so much information packed into those sessions, but looking back, this was far greater than sitting there at your own pace and watching a clock go by.

So, I would highly suggest the in-person, classroom training to get your license. You can stop and ask questions on anything you're not clear on, and you have an opportunity to interact with a teacher who is, hopefully still, in the real world and can tell you what former/recent students are giving feedback on as far as the state test and the classroom materials.

Welcome to the industry!

I think a classroom setting would be best for me as I have a lot of distractions at home with a wife and kid at home that just love my attention.
If anyone has a recommendation on an in person course thatd be great

Don't do the online course... you'll get the highlights for the test from a face to face instructor...

Just the OPPOSITE of what Id recommend. If you're not disciplined enough to do this at home, on your own...how are you going to be disciplined enough to go out & hit your leads every week on your own?

Check with the local community colleges in your area. Thats where I took mine.

Ron,

I highly recommend sitting thru the class, if you do not understand a certain area of insurance or concept it can be addressed at that time. We use 2 different licensing classes for our agents. One is in Tampa and the other in Clearwater. Both have high 90+% passing ratios. If you need the info email me at [email protected]

I also agree that it is better to sit in an actual class. I used Florida School Of Insurance. The class really helped me also the practice test they offer was just about the exact same questions that was on the state exam. Passed it first time around because of that.

It's been a while since I used this course but he was very informative in his training. The class was in Miami at the time in the class room as well as online video (same time as the class). So essentially you're in class with the students in the classroom.

By the way I spoke with the guy a few months ago just to touch base, he was still doing the classes. About Two classes per month, if you're interested send me an email.
