Chigaco Kids with Public Insurance Denied Doctor Appointments

I remember calling my son's pediatrician last year when we had an ear infection. They said the soonest they could get him in was three days and if it's an emergency they recommend the ER. As worthless as tits on a bull.

The minute clinics here are $49 to see the N.P. and there is a $10 online coupon. If I had gone to an urgent care center, they wanted $130 to $160. There isn't a GP in the world worth $130 to $160, unless I have cancer and they are the only one that can help.

GP's are useless vs. cancer, regardless.

Not really seeing what it is that they do anymore. A NP can handle probably 95% of all patients and the other 5% can be referred to specialists.

Do we really need 4 years of medical school + a residency for this? No.

HBP? Prescription
Cholesterol? Prescription
Allergies? Prescription
Asthma? Prescription
Infection? Prescription

Heck, sounds like a correspondence course to me.

My Daughters Pediatrcian's Practice and My Drs Practice (2 Seperate practices) have been purchased by the local hospital and it seems they now both have a take it or leave it approach to thier appointments there is always the ER type of approach...For me its 30 Minutes to Lewiston to get to one of these clinics...I used one a year ago I was in Major bacfk pain and called my Drs office on Friday couldn't get in the best they could do was Tuesday...I hate going to the ER so elected to wait it out on Tuesday Morning they called me and they where closing the office because 1 of the receptionist had died and they closed the entire office they couldn't or wouldn't let me schedule another appointment said they would call me (They did actually the next wednesday call with a thursday appointment slot). At the time I was aware of one of these clinics in Waterville and 1 1/2 hours away and thought it was the closest...Some google research found me an office in Lewiston stuffed myself in the car and drove down fell out of the car and crawled in checked in and then tried to sit and wait. They could tell I was in pain and even though I wasn't next in lin ethey let me lay down in an unsed treatment room until it was my turn 20 minutes later muscle relaxer and pain med scripts and a referall to a specialist and I was on the road to recovery.

Yes I could have gone to the ER but unless its life threatening I will avoid it like the plague especially now that I know about this clinic.

My Daughters office we now call for an appointment and get a receptionist the response is always the same that a nurse will call back, you then describe the symptoms and they determine wether or not they offer na appointment its crazy these days.

Our doctor's office has the same game; appointment at 2pm. Get there 20 minutes early to fill out the forms, turn them in by 1:50.

45 minutes later, finally get called. Oh, not to see the doctor, but to get ushered into the room. Then we typically sit for another 20 to 30 minutes.

Doctor comes in with the entire visit normally lasting 5 to 10 minutes top. Out the door you go with a prescription. Lab testing needs to be done? Oh, they outsource that - here's the address of their lab - call to schedule an appointment.

To a tee what we get...Except the Lab is the Hospital. What I really loved was a NP in my daughters office that no matter what wanted to do a throat culture that they do in the office and process in the office (not so bad) but then they send it to the Hospital and run it again to create additional billing...Don't tell me she wasn't playing the game because as soon as I called her on it she says we don't need to do it....In my practice if I feel that something is required I don't fold when the client questions it.

And to think people think that insurance agents are crooks. What a load of crap.
