Children's Games

I've heard ins carriers are going to decline the whole family if they have a GI kid, not even giving partials. This way the companies can get around denying children, just decline the whole family app.

3 different conference calls.

Insurance companies are intelligent and have already found a loophole in the reform bill. Technically they're not declining kids if they deny the whole family.

What a scene this will cause!

Would seem a bit tough. If the child is GI yet the parents are both healthy the carrier would have to give a reason for declining the entire family.

To me, the carriers are simply going to let the rates do to the talking. We already ran the math of a max rate up where the ending premium was around $900.

How many $900 cases have you written.

Aside from that, carriers are going to have to generally follow UW guides.

If a child's max rating is say 100% and standard UW applies to adult applicants it'll be near impossible for them to decline when it's clear that the parts can be underwritten.

So if what you say is true, UW guides will be the reflect that; "No coverage will be offered to other applicants if the child is a decline."

I don't see that happening.

I don't see that happening.

It already is. I had 2 family apps declined(technically withdrew) this week with a kid issue, parents healthy. That's how I found out about this new situation. I called and bitched, then had a rep call me back to explain. Over 60% of my health business are families. I'm screwed...
