Churches

Is the church market profitable. I mean I don't do P&C but I think they potentially present several problems.

(1)It sometimes hard to tell who is the one influential leader you need to win over.

(2)Dealing with a church board can be a pain in the posterior.

(3)Some church boards are very indecisive and can consume a lot of time.

(4)Churches like to do business with someone they know in the community and will often favor someone even if not the best deal.

Just some of my thoughts.

Agree with Xrac, dealing with them can be difficult. But once you get it on the books expect the Church accounts to stay for many years to come.

Philadelphia does compete well with Church Mutual in the Northeast. Only thing I will say is their umbrella rates seem to be a bit higher than CM. Package a bit cheaper, and auto same to slightly higher.

I don't know if our church is typical but we have coverage with either Church Mutual or Brotherhood. Other than sending us our policy in the mail every year and mailing us a monthly statement(don't know why they do this as we pay by bank draft), we have had no contact with the agency in the last 4 years. Am going to call them in a couple of weeks to increase our coverage since we have done a complete remodeling. As a general rule our board will choose one person to research what they want to do and then accept whatever he decides. Don't think we are that much of a pain to deal with.

You have the most efficient church board I ever heard of! Most of the time, it comes around and around. And that is pretty sad that you've had no contact in 4 years. Even if your church was a small account, no account should be completely neglected. Irritates me when other agents treat people like such crap gives the rest of us a bad reputation to overcome.

I see service and relationship issues with CM's agents, seems that their sales quotas force them to sell and move on...it's one of the factors that led me to this market. I've already gotten appontments with three church writers and will be contracting with one more before rolling out the program. Maybe it's the lower average premium that makes the competition in this market weak ?

Wouldst say as a minister, he has dealt with a few.. Funny though, I hear boards say the same about dealing with ministers. Maybe that is what "church mutual" really means? :twitchy::twitchy:
