Does typical homeowners policy cover against plumbing problems that happen from things deteriorating with time? I've got cast iron sewage drain pipe thats cracked and waste is in our celing.
I can't speak for other companies, as I'm fairly new to the industry, but with Farmers, the adjusters are looking for coverage, not looking for an excuse to deny it.

Hi Farmers agent!
You are totally WRONG! Farmers looks under every nook and cranny and rock to find a reason to DENY DENY DENY
Thank you for that reasoned and eloquent response. I'm going to assume you're either being sarcastic, or you're just off the meds today.
How old is the pipe? What caused it to crack?
As has been mentioned, few policies will cover this if it was just normal wear. On the other hand, if the house was 5 yours old and this just happened one day, then, depending on the policy, it may be covered.
For the record, Farmers would probably treat this claim as most other companies would. Except I don't think they offer any sewage backup coverage, or very limited in some states. Not that this is sewage backup though.
