Docs are the sacred cows in this healthcare mess. They are one of the leading causes for inflation, but the sheeple always give them their pass

Amen! Them and the rx companies. The insurance won't pay for it, not "why is it so expensive?"

Docs are the sacred cows in this healthcare mess. They are one of the leading causes for inflation, but the sheeple always give them their pass because their Dr. that saved their life can walk on water and work miracles and....

I don't think doctors would have so much power and ability to charge such high fees if people didn't want to avoid pain, suffering, and death at any cost. I think they called this an "inelastic demand curve" back in college.

Compounding matters is that America is the land of opportunity for wealth and riches if you can tap into one of the few products or services where people say, "Oh..please help me! (Or my loved one) I'll give you anything!!!"

Note: Primary Care physicians in Canada average $220K a year in Salary and Specialists average $280K annually. Not sure if those physicians are any better or worse (on average) than U.S. doctors though.

Price fixing always follows insurance reform in states & nations that have enacted full health care reform. Granted, there is some price gouging going on right now for sure. But price controls is never a pretty picture, either. This always involves availability of good doctors and continued development of new technologies or treatments, too. My view is that they go after the faceless insurance companies and pharmaceuticals first, then the family doctor.
