CNN Reports AHIP Cave-in

Am watching CNN and they just reported, what is already known, that AHIP has agreed that guaranteed issue is the way to go and will play ball with the government on that component.

Here we go. Obama will announce that we cannot achieve everything we want in this climate so we will get there in steps. Step one, guaranteed issue. Step two maybe some tax credits to go with it. That basically was McCains plan anyway.

We don't know yet. That is one scenario but the government has many half-way measures that it can play with. Such as creating creditable plans that are eligible for subsidy or tax credit from the fed government provided that they are guaranteed issue. That can be done without necessarily enacting mandatory coverage in the same way that many states have guaranteed issue without necessarily having mandatory coverage. The fact that it is stupid is another matter and will not necessarily preclude the feds from doing it anymore than it precluded some states. And.....of course...mandatory coverage is on the table.
