Hi everyone, im a college student in the state of kansas and i have recently been very fascinated and intrigued with becoming a insurance agent. First i would like to ask a quick couple questions about how hard it is to get into the field and getting employed, i have experience as a bank teller and im working on a degree in marketing and finance, currently i have a 3.9 GPA and im going into my 3rd year. secondly i was wondering about the job outlook i have read some articles about agent jobs diminishing as insurance companies do more direct marking and making use of the internet, and was wondering what every one's thoughts were on that. third i was interested in what it takes to start your own agency, because if i were to become an agent i would be looking to go independent as soon as possible as i have heard the income potential is much greater as an independent because it is your company and you can hire people ect wich only makes sense but i wanted to know what the time span for it was, how soon can you go independent. My last question has to do with getting experience now while i am still in college, i know that if i choose to pursue this rout it would be beneficial to me to get a job/internship with an agency but i was wondering if you guys had some ideas about how to go about looking and asking for jobs/internships at agencies.
