Colonial Life Vs. Allstate

I was an Allstate Agent for 20 Years. I started as an employee captive commissioned agent in a Sears store. Allstate started the neighborhood office agent (NOA) and then move agents to Exclusive Agent contract similar to State Farm. I sold my agency in 2000 and since that time it has been sold 3 Times. The thing to remember with Allstate is that it will change. Nothing remains the same except Allstate wants to treat the Exclusive Agent as employee's. If I were looking at Allstate I would want a broker contract. The exclusive agent contract has to many restrictions. I don't believe there are any employee agents left with the company except working for an Agency or corporate. But in either of these cases you will not own any of the business. Allstate does provide some of the best training for P&C agencies in the insurance profession. Life and health not so much.
