One of my account managers wants to bring in some business from his contacts.
These seem like they could be fairly substantial.

What's a good split for an employee that's already getting decent salary?

In my agency we paid 100% of the commission for the first year only. You'd be surprised how hard they'll work for it when the reward is higher plus generally it's someone they know well so not like they will stop providing good service just because there's no renewal commission.

I'd say 50% year after year providing they're in good standing. After all its in essence "free business" that they're now bringing to your agency. I'd say there's a certain level of respect and loyalty there. However, I like REEDRHODENs idea as well.

When working at another agency I brought in several big deals and they paid me 25%. The funny part is they have kept the business for about 8 years now and every month I still get a 25% commission even through I havent sent them business in a long time...hey, I get a physical check in the mail for a nice car payment every month, lol.
