Commissions and More

Hi all, I am in the process of getting all the information together to begin selling Health, Workers Comp, and disability insurance.

I was hoping I could get some information on the following to help me setup my business model.

1) Can you give me a general rate of commission for group health premiums I will receive per policy. I was estimating 4% average? I will be writing with Blue Cross, Aetna, Kaiser, and United Health mainly.

2) In regards to individual health commissions what rate can I use? I figured average $240 per policy written based on Blue Cross' payout

3)What about disability as far as commission goes?

4)I plan to use a GA first to eliminate the TPA side of things until I establish enough business where it makes sense. I want to focus on sales first. Since I will be using a GA will much of my work come from renewals and new enrollments? Where else should I plan to expense labor besides sales/mgmt.

5)If I use the GA they have the quoting system and easy enrollment software online that allows me to get info, etc. What other software should I be looking at besides a contact management program? What should I be tracking?
