I am looking at one of my statements now, and if premium has increased shouldn't the commissionable value have increased?

Depends on the carrier. Here in the people's republic of kalifornia, Blue Cross, Blue Shield, Health Net and (I think) Aetna pay on the new premium. Mutual of Omaha and Lincoln Heritage paid on the initial premium. However, the last 2 (and now Aetna also) pay the same percentage for the first 6 years, the others pay at 20% 1st, 10% renewal.

Welcome to the forum Soupdawg.
In most states and with most companies you will get paid on the original premium of the policy.

Not new, but I would still consider myself ignorant. I never had anyone teach me anything. I was just told to sell and so for three years that's what I have done.

Must be new and is getting the first shock of government control!

dude are you new to the biz?

A-oh. Not taught anything....just told to sell. Please do not let Dateline read such a thing, they slammed the insurance industry enough already.

Better take some time to learn.
