Comprehension and Collusion Coverage

Had a client a few years back ask me for comprehension. Had to laugh and think to myself that she definitely needed some comprehension, but I couldn't help her with that. Stupid hurts.

Another client called to tell me how he took his truck to the desert and blew the engine, and wanted the insurance company to replace it. I explained that it wasn't something covered by an auto insurance policy. He asked about collision coverage and I said something to the effect of it covering the car if it was in an accident (should have said collision). So the guy says "Well I didn't do it on purpose, therefore it was an accident, therefore it's covered."

Anyone else have any funny coverage misunderstandings?

Comprehension and Collusion Coverage

I never heard of Collusion in an auto policy....

Years ago I ran a small P&C agency. Lots of Persians in the area.

Got a call from an 18 yr old new to the country who needed to insure his brand new Beemer. He worked at daddy's gas station.

He first grilled me on coverage and asked if the policy would pay if he got a girl pregnant in the car. Along with all the other reasons I told him it covered only accidental occurrences. Of course his argument was it would be an accident.

I quoted him something Ike $650 for 6 months. He then decided to negotiate telling me he'd buy if it was $650 for a year. I then told him this wasn't a bazaar.

Didn't get the policy. Damn.

Rick -

You should have explained he needed to have medical insurance on his auto policy if he wanted to cover accidental pregnancies. After all, isn't that what its for?

This happened around 1981. Where were you when I needed the advice?

Beautiful!....LOL

I always like the ones who think when their car breaks down and they can tow it 2 or 3 states to get it home to fix and we will still pay for it
