Contestable Claims Does Anyone Know

how Uhl handles these? Do they try to get out of paying "anyway" possible, or are they "fair"?

I know there are some carriers out there that will leave no stone unturned even on small claims. When I first started in the biz, I had an agent tell me that a carrier(not Uhl) refused to pay a claim on a policy that was out of contestablility because the guy died of a gunshot wound.

They dug up a felony conviction that was outside of the scope of the application, and said that he was shot due to illegal activities, eventhough the death was legally ruled accidental.

The mother could have sued and possibly won, but refused to do anythng. The agent was so upset, he didn't stay with the carrier but a few months after they finally denied the claim.

No personal experience with UHL on death claims but I have been told they are very difficult. Probably not Foresters difficult but pretty much like most of the other companies.

That would have to be am accidental death policy or rider.... They have exclusions for certain illegal activities whether the policy is within the contestable period or not.
