Curt Schilling: AIG Cancelled Insurance Due To 'Social Media Profile'

Do they typically refuse business due to things people have said on the internet?

Don't for 1 second think this had anything to do with numbers/risk; the rep's reference to the marketing team tells the story.

The issue isn't about the legality, it's about what kind of world are we going to be left with if this corporate virtue-signalling doesn't stop.

He is a political commentator. This is a professional liability policy that was dropped.

The whole job (risk to the insurer) of a political commentator is what that person says.

It was a legal, free market business decision. Either we are a free market or we arent.

"First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a socialist. Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out— because I was not a trade unionist. Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—because I was not a Jew."

It all starts somewhere, and usually ignored until... they come for you.

How often have you seen an insurer's marketing team involved with assessing risk? It was clearly NOT a risk-based decision.

First of all, we aren't. We have all kinds of economic regulations, some based entirely on wanting to have a civil society.

Second, like I said, ignore the legality of it. What kind of world are we heading for when, "Look who we refused service to!" is a popular marketing strategy?

Either we are a free market or we arent.

Can you decide to not make a cake if you choose to?

Really, you think this is a "free market". You need to be educated on economics in general. We passed the "free market" many moons ago. Don't believe me, look at all the regulations and law suits in the passed 50 years.

So political speech is now “stupid shit”? Would the same apply if he had participated in a BLM march without participating in the riot?

Let's compare apples to apples: If I'm dumb enough to go on a BLM March to the capitol where let's say the hypothetical black President Trump (I always thought Don King was the obvious choice for black Trump, but at least he didn't inherit his money) just told us that we will "lose our country" if we don't "fight" for changing an election that he lost and there has been no credible evidence to overturn it....

If President Don King's personal attorney said to take it by combat or some stupid like that...then I decide to march my black ass down to the capitol, and don't immediately GTFO once I see these fools who marched with me storming the gates, then this gate storming leads to murdered police and a crowd chanting to hang the VP while looking for the VP and congress members....

then yeah, I need to lose my ***ing job for being a dumbass. Guilty by association is nothing new.

If I'm with a group of people trying to disrupt a fundamental government process, and it leads to a murder of a LEO on federal property...then yeah, if losing my job or job performance related insurance policy is the worst thing that happens to me, then I got off lucky.

It's called self accountability.

Too many think they are winning when the other side is attacked to know what really is going on

I am sure the same in the beginning in Germany There was those that were told they are getting the short end of the stick because these other people

and I am sure some felt good when the other people were starting to be harassed

If this is true that it was a professional liability policy, they have every right to selective cancel. However, if this is a personal insurance policy like Homeowners, most states essential insurance laws would prohibit such a cancellation.

Crap, a large farm client shown on TV screaming at his hispanic workers calling them Nig$%$ couldnt be cancelled earlier this year. Luckily the client lost all kinds of suppliers & buyers of his products. But the carrier wasnt permitted to cancel his farm or personal auto policy. Pretty certain treasury & other entities also came in to audit payrolls, immigration violations, etc

This is a typical strategy, and was employed by both communist as they pitted the classes against each other. They then battle each other as the ruling party took control and controlled all so called classes. Then in good form, millions died in order to maintain that control. Stalin was quick to purge the party of any he saw as a threat to his power, all other party leaders have done the same and continue to this day.

We are fools not to see the "writing on the wall". They have been warning us since the 50's. Hollywood portrays the Red Scare with such indignance... wonder what they are saying of the mass silencing that is occurring now?

Very little.. why...?

"One step back two steps forward."
