Ok, did an app today for the exchange where Dad has a dependent son on his 1040. Applicant lives in Missouri and son lives with Mom in Illinois.

Both got a subsidy of $500 dollars. I enrolled the Dad as I am Missouri licensed. Didn't do the son as I'm not licensed in Illinois.

As I am the "agent of record" on the application how can I "legally" get another agent in Illinois to write the son and get the commission on him?

CMS separates them into two groups. Dad is group one and son is group two.

This is a real puzzler to me. Anyone, anyone, Buller? :err:

Bonus Question: On the CMS application it requires you to match the name with the Social Security Card. Client has a son with the name, "Joe Smith" the 2nd.

As there is no drop down box for II only for Junior, Senior, III and IV. How can you enter II and get a match? CMS skipped anyone named Joe Smith the 2nd, II. :skeptical:

Buller, Buller....Buller....

They have to be on the same policy to get the $500 subsidy. Hope your state has a PPO option available...

Right. If the son is under 26, you can put him on the Dad's PPO plan. I've done this with families whose children live out of state. That would solve your problem in a heartbeat Duaine.

Joe Smith the 2nd would be Joe Smith Jr....assuming his dad is Joe Smith.

There's a good chance you don't need it, or it doesn't matter that much. I'm sure they'll recognize the different SSN's and DOB's mean the same name is two different people.

All the males in my family are named after their father, me included. Some are I/II/III, some are Jr./Sr. (like myself). I've never had an issue leaving it off (drivers license, passport, taxes, etc.)

**Not legal guidance, just experience**

For the legal answer, call the exchange, we're all just guessing.

Ah, Ray, you shouldn't have said that. Now you are going to be called "Junior"!

I'm already the young guy on the boards, it was inevitable. I'm used to it, I'm still the youngest guy in the office.
