Does anyone have any good stand alone plans for an individual besides Anthem or Blue Shield? I have a client that is asking for Metlife, but think they are only available from group plans.

NAFMD offers an HMO for Metlife.

If your client is ok with an HMO, may be good option. Excellent benefits and commissions are high.

They only offer in CA, TX and FL.

I sell the Delta Group Dental through AHIR association.
It is not the Delta Individual Plan, it is the Delta Group Policy through an Association called AHIR. It is an HMO and we have had good luck with it.

I am self employed in California and have been shopping around for a good dental insurance plan for my family. So far the individual plans are very limited in its benefits compared with the ones offered for small groups(2-55 employees). The rates are the about the same but the benefits difference are night and day. It's almost like the insurance industry discriminates against the individuals.

It is night and day. But you have to realize on the individual side many sign up as soon as they need work done to their teeth. Then they dump the insurance once they get it to pay out. Find out first what plans your dentist takes. Will they accept cash and knock 30% off?
Some of the better ones are Humana and United Concordia for a PPO. HMO's are a much better value but networks are skinny in some regions. I recommend Delta Care USA, Blue Shield, and MetLife. Delta Care is $7-8/month for a single person. If you have a wife or child that works with you full time, I know of four carriers that run under $150/month for a 2 person group and no waiting periods. Contact me below if you need advice.

I have great service with Morgan White. They have a few Delta Dental options. Yes there are waits but most individual dental PPO plans do.
