It's funny how careful you have to be in this process. I knew that I wanted a referral, but also knew that the specialist(endodontist), that I was going to use for the referral, would be leery of why I would want to change my current dentist.I have been through this twice before, and yes, EVERYTHING changes.
I am slow to pull the trigger since the dentist is also a client, but he is only part-time and has a "not my circus, not my monkey's" approach. He is simply another employee for a few more months. By the time I am going to another practice I doubt he will know that I have left.
Figured it was going to be like a job interview, so, when he asked why I wanted a new dentist, I explained that while the office was fantastic, unfortunately I had gone through two dentists there, that left along with the hygienists. I saw his face change, and he happily referred me to his personal dentist.
These people are so protective over each other's reputations. It's so hard just to "show up" some place, if you've been with another dentist for a long time.
