This is a question that arises a lot of times when going over what a Supplement covers. Diabetic supplies, does that include everything BUT the insulin? Needles, lancets, strips, monitoring system, and anything else that a diabetic would need?

A supplement only covers the policyholder's share of cost for items covered by Medicare. Period. It does not add benefits other than world-wide emergency.

Best COA answer is medsupps cover anything that medicare covers. If medicare pays for testing strips, meters, and lancets... so will this supplement.

I refer my clients to Liberty Medical. 800-762-8026

They will get the test strips, lancets, control solution, batteries and lancing device. Medicare pays 80% and Liberty direct bills the carrier for the remaining 20%. A new monitor is provided every year.

Syringes and needles will have to be purchased by the client.

If the client has an insulin pump, Medicare will pay for the insulin as well.
