Direct Mail Return Prediction?

Is there any way to figure out what type of direct mail return you would get without actually sending them? I'm guessing the answer is "no", but I thought I would ask anyway. Could there be a demographical statistic that may steer it one way or another? Thanks in advance.

What state/area are you working in? More than likely somebody on the forum is near you and can give some experiences.

There are so many variables that you'd have to commit to dropping thousands upon thousands over a period of time to arrive to an honest "ballpark" figure.

Problem of course is you could go broke before you find out!

I know for a fact Georgia has horrible returns. Even North Georgia; I'd get .5% return on 1000 pieces in the area. However, in East Tennessee, I could get a little over 1%.

My suggestion is to play conservative and estimate between .5% and 1% return on 1000 and let the results speak for itself.

Just remember that the list is the most important aspect to the mailing campaign.

If you are using a mailing house, most of the time, they will share with you, other people in your area result.

But for life insurance. 1/2 of 1% is avg.

I would suggest contacting Lincoln Heritage. They have a great product and really good leads. They may be able to provide you with some statistics, training and help. If you would like a contact I can provide you with that (I am not recruiting....I promise).

I think if you look up Newby on this forum he has posted how he loves Lincoln Heritage as well, even though he is really loving the "Farm" agencies at this moment.

Main Street Power Mail is decent, they will also provide you with the response rates for the different mail pieces sent to an area.

Thanks, I called....they said it's 1.5% avg return in Calif....seems a little high from what I've been reading from everyone else! At $450 per 1000, I'd want a MINIMUM of 1.5% return!
