Do You Take Advanced Commissions?

Curious if many of you who are full time in FE take advance commissions? If you do, how far do you receive advances, 6 month, 9 month? I'm sure most seasoned FE agents go on as earned, due to time in sales and size of book of business. Thanks for your replies.

They all come on here and make fun of me for being "as earned", so I'm guessing you are going to get a lot of FE guys coming on here saying they take advances and you would be silly not to. And you need to spend 25K in leads this year while you are at it.

I've never seen anybody make fun of you. Most people on here go out of their way to be nice to you.

Well, it was a thread about securus, and the thread went bye bye. But yes, I thank everyone on here for the most part for being nice, it was just a few guys in that thread and they were getting all snippy and stuff, because I was saying the business model of securus or any large FE outfit, is not for me. They could not just be satisfied with saying, " It's not for you, so fine"... they had to say, "What do you know, you are a failure" and stuff. So anyways, I'm thinking they are probably going to come back here and say Amarillo is a failure if he wants to go on as earned, or something, who knows. It was only one or two posters anyways.

Ahh, I was out playing softball...missed that thread.
But we did win every game of our double, double-header (4-0!).:1biggrin:

When I first got started, I don't know how I could have possibly made it without advancing. But once you get a couple of years of renewals flowing in, it is definitely something to strongly consider. Especially if you are charged for your advance balance. I always kept advancing when I did nothing but FE. But now that I am doing Med Supps, is all about building and maintaining my renewal base.

Personal decision. I prefer to be paid as earned and am with most companies. As earned on all med sup business. As earned on all but 2 life companies and on those 2 I'm on a 6 month advance.

Most see advances as an interest free loan and take them because of that. I still see it as a loan and would rather not borrow money from the companies.

Revisionist history. You were the one that got pompous and said that it was a failure to buy leads and take advances.

Those two things are separate issues anyway. You are the one that lumped them together and now whine about called out when you spoke on something you know nothing about

most of the ones that aren't getting advances have poor credit, and the carriers will only pay as earned to them. In that case, the individual wouldn't have a choice and would have to take as earned.

having said that, unless your persistency is in the toilet and you don't sell more cases regularly, it would be silly to refuse an interest free loan that your clients make the payments on.

If you choose to take advance, it is best to take no more than 6 months.. 9 or 12 month advances can be a recipe for disaster for a lot of agents.
