Does a Tricare for Life widow pay a monthly premium?

I always stay away from these people, but received a referral from a widow with A/B who was asked to pay a $129/mo premium. My agent friend does NOT pay a premium, but her husband is still alive (if it matters). I asked her to re-verify this on Monday to see if she might get a different answer.

My MIL was married to a retired military man for less than 2 years and somehow qualified for TFL when he died and has never paid a monthly premium. Don't ask me how she did it but she canceled her MS/PDP with me.

There is no premium that I'm aware of. Either you qualify for it or you don't.

Dad's been gone for 10+ years. No premiums for Mom other than Part B.

I have seen where the ex wife of a military retiree had lost TFL so I wonder if this couple was divorced.

There's no monthly premium for Tricare, other than being enrolled in Medicare Part B. They left something out of that story.
