Newer to the industry and ran across something I haven't dealt with yet. I've been reading this forum for a few months now and it's time I finally post something. I'm hoping someone will have some helpful advice.
I'm working with a guy in VA who has been on medicare since 2001 due to disability. He's turning 65 in September, and I'm working with him on his med. supp. I found out that he has never had a Part D plan or prescription coverage. I'm trying to determine if the penalty applies in his situation. I read something online that said the 'slate is wiped clean at 65.' I know that Part D plans started in 2006, so does that have any impact on his situation and/or the potential penalty?
Any advice or suggestions are appreciated.
