Clearly it has to do with the guitar playing dog. His name is Shonce, right man?
Funny thing is, I've been using that screen name since AOL days before the internet was really a thing yet. I was actually in a songwriters forum using that screen name. I love my music, but I make a lot more money sellin' shonce!

It is from debit clients. They all say Shonce Man, can you come see me today? I don't want my insurance to collapse!
Mostly the kids at the door, "Mama, it's the shonce man!" I thought it was a term of endearment! It's definitely more of a southern thing, like Lee said. Heard it constantly working in rural southeastern VA & NC. In TX I don't hear it as much, unless they're transplants from Louisiana or Miss.

I think it depends on if mama had the money to pay you or not that day and if there would be any money left over for candy or a soft drink after you left.
