Explaining MAPD vs Supplement

I wouldn't say using an analogy is being biased. It helps some see things and understand how it works a bit better. We always go through the ABC and D of Medicare, but some still tend to get them confused. Using something relatable and helping your clients understand what they are purchasing is being an excellent agent. Not ensuring complete understanding is not doing your job.

I would agree scare tactics that some agents use are not needed and only do the client harm in the long run. At the end of the day, it is what the client feels is best for them that counts.
Part of the problem is that we have a lot of agents on here that don't know how to sell insurance.

And it's not necessarily their fault. Nobody ever taught them how to sell.

I see a lot of agents on here that are merely taking orders. Not selling.

There's nothing wrong with telling stories, using humor and quoting facts. In fact, one of the basic tenets of selling is getting down on your prospects level.

Facts are not scare tactics.

Not hard to ht the MOOP.. I had MAPD for 4 months and managed to hit it.
That means you were in the 3-5%. You guys have a really bad grasp of how numbers work. Someone took their first flight on a plane that crashed. Does that mean 100% of flights crash?

Also, what happens when you hit the MOOP? So, would they place their MOOP's where 5% would reach it, or 20%? Which makes the most financial sense? Add this to the fact that half of you believe UHC denied 1/3 of its claims because some JOURNALIST told you and I really don't think you guys understand how the products you sell actually work.

Is this irony, hypocrisy, or stupidity on display?

That would depend on whose post we're talking about. Since I know how to sell insurance, mine would be a fact.

If we're talking about your post then we're going to have to go with stupid.

But since we're talking about facts, here's one for you.

You probably need to slow down. You're not half as smart as you think you are.

"Selling" anything and "knowing what you are talking about" are two different things. Dumb, and/or unethical people make terrific sales reps. But you are too stupid to understand that's not the flex you think it is. So, I can guess what makes you a good salesman, huh?

And you don't have the intelligence to begin to comment on mine.

One of the things I get tired of on these forums is the level name calling, insults, rude and downright nasty behavior some of the agents (certainly not all or even close to that but you are one of the people who does this to others) exhibit when they don't agree with someone. This took me by surprise. I am on other professional forums (in another field) and people don't behave like this there.

In my opinion the fault lies with the person who started the ad hominem attacks. Attacking the person rather than the idea usually doesn't obtain the desired result nor does it persuade anyone that you are right (even if you were to be). Instead is usually pisses off the person being attacked. I am not surprised that eventually the person being attacked gets tired of it and when reason and emotionally neutral responses don't stop the behavior then returns the "favor".

In my opinion it would be more effective and persuasive to discuss facts or opinions respectfully, backing up points of disagreement with sound reasoning or verifiable information rather than resorting to name calling and insults. People are less likely to listen to those who engage in these kinds of negative behaviors even if it turns out they are right (speaking in general, not specific to percent of people who reach the MOOP discussion). I know that if I were on the other side of this and looking for an agent, I'd run from someone who behaves like this when they disagree with someone. I'd prefer someone who behaves more professionally.

OK. It's obvious that you've got nothing to come at me with. You're sounding like a silly 3rd grader.

I'm guessing that you were the kid that was always picked last on the playground.

I'm putting you on ignore now so save your keystrokes.

And half of his post are attacking other posters he disagrees with. So, you aren't bothered by ad hominem attacks. Rather, you don't like it when it's someone who agrees with you that the target of them.
