Final Expense as a Captive Agent, Please Help!

Honest lead vendors and IMOs don't re-sell leads. But crooked ones do. And they sell them as PDFs. Not hard copies.

An IMO should never sell leads that they charged the agent full price for, even if that agent goes to another IMO. EFES is an IMO that will resell your leads if you leave, even if they did nothing to subsidize the lead cost.

I will never trust my mail to an IMO ever again. No reason anyone but I should have a copy of the leads I paid for. When an agent goes on an IMO mail program, and the IMO becomes the disbursing entity, in effect metering out the agent's lead flow, it is a recipe for the agent to get f*cked. And I do not use that language lightly.

In my book, any IMO that resells previously sold leads is a crooked IMO. The EFES gang will come along and say I'm a troll. But I will hold that grudge til the day I draw my last breath. Crooked IMO.

Why would a vendor mailing a hard copy to you make any difference as to a lead being resold?

If you get the hard copy and you just placed the order, you have a high degree of certainty that that lead, even if it will be resold down the road, has not been sold to another agent. There is the chance that it is being sold as a pdf copy to another agent, but there is only one hard copy of the physical card. I prefer to knock with the actual card if possible.

David I'm just as strict as you are on the reselling leads lines that do not get crossed. That is scumbaggary at its worst if an IMO thinks your leads are up for resell just because you left to go elsewhere.

I had an agent in Kentucky that started up on my leads recently and he didn't make it. He was trying part time and the leads were burying him. He had to cut them off abruptly and told me to keep his deposit because he couldn't accept any more and knew he had weeks worth of lead orders coming in.

I always consider it a badge of shame if I have an agent that loses his deposit to me. I've probably not had more than six or seven of those in my whole history. That means I've failed him.

So last week I had a competitor IMO call me needing leads in Kentucky badly. So I sell him the pile stacking up and could have pocked the money plus kept that other agents deposit (double payment) and been just fine. The competitor wanted even more leads than that so I told him about the leads the other agent bought but barely worked. We agreed on what he would pay for those if the agent wanted to sell them. Then I did what a bad IMO wouldn't do...I connected the guy who bought the leads the first time with the guy who wants to buy them now.

I put the deal together for them and got my agent his deposit back and extra money for leads HE was willing to resell. Win-win because I'm paid once for all my leads and everyone else got what they wanted too.

This is how an ethical IMO operates. I believe in Karma. Always have. I think if I was out screwing people over bad things would come of it. In that case above if I would have just pocketed the money no one but me would have known. But I would have known. If YOU have bought leads from me those are yours, not mine to sell. That's the only way I can see it.

Your correct I don't know if there reselling my leads down the line But when I get the hard copy with a date stamp I know it's fresh when I get . But to be honest if they sell 6-12 months down the line it's irrelevant as the client probably mailed many more in.Any age who's buying also knows it's being sold as an older lead as the card says 2020 or 2021 and it's 2022 when sold . Why do you think many leads have no age or year in the card ? So they can resell it as new as nobody can dispute it's a resold lead . Also even though the agent knows resold leads from rgi making back on mkt thru Efes or whoever .

about 20-30 % will be graded. Some "leads" will be more and some will be less. You never know!!

I've been with a captive agency for close to 3 years (Thrivent financial), and I've become an MDRT member by naturally prospecting and getting referrals, so being new isn't the problem. I've recently jumped in the leads rabbit hole. I bought 60 FB leads from Secured Agent Leads, I called them, didn't have much success, so I went and door knocked them. Same sort of things from everyone either uninsurable( on ss disability, pill bottles everywhere, bipolar etc..) or "didn't fill this out". I almost always got into the home, but then they would proceed to tell me the above things. I have not made a single sale... Very discouraging, but I know these have to work from all the videos I have watched on youtube... I am thinking about doing direct mail for mortgage protection.
Is it harder to sell Final Expense as a captive agent that doesn't have a graded or a guaranteed issue product?? I'm trying to make this leads thing work to use as a supplement please help!

If it makes you feel any better, I recently got about 75 Medicare leads from them and they pretty much sucked. I won't be using them again but I'm sure I'll pay SOMEBODY else for crappy leads again.
