Ex-Marine that is in an institution
He is Mentally disabled/schizophrenia

Is there a company that will give him a final expense policy?

Does anyone know if he might qualify for any kind of government
assistance for a funeral. His problem started after 6 months in the Marines
and he was then discharged.

We are not the government, un less he dies during active duty uncle Sam doesn't pay much.

And you haven't given us his age.

Is the institution under the VA hospital system? Is he under honorable discharge? What percentage disability is he?

Great questions. Those would answer whether or not he would qualify for a VA burial. Over and above a plot in a national cemetery.

Minor point: except to a Marine, there is no such thing as an Ex Marine.

Right! My dad was not an Ex-Marine his entire adult life! But to the point: I just called on a lead who misunderstood what he was responding to, and told me he had it through the VA. When I replied with the usual "that's only for a grave site and marker" he answered, "I've got $10,000 of life insurance because I'm 100% disabled." Now, I have actually never heard of that, so I went to the VA site thinking he probably doesn't know what he's talking about. But, sure enough, there is, in some cases, free life insurance for service connected disability. I think there's a stipulation that the vet has to apply within 2 years of discharge. Are you thinking maybe our "not an ex-Marine" friend might qualify?
