According to their web site, they take your leads and make the appointment. That statement could mean different things; return card leads, etc.. That may be why they are so cheap. Does not seem possible to make $12 apts from just calling a targeted list.

Question from a guy that does do lead mailings.

Do you guys get so many lead cards back that it is better to pay someone to make the appointment? Or is there another reason to do this.

They initially charge u $46 to set up a magic jack line to get a local area code & then $12/appt. Sounds like the same thing several others have told me....anyone have any results??

That is kind of odd IMO. It's much easier and cheaper just to have an unlimited Skype account for $2.99 a month and you can pick any area code you'd like and cancel at anytime without penalty. No setup fee and of course the software is free.

Plus dialing from a PC is just nicer than a regular phone. For a handful of calls it's no biggie, but if ALL you do is make calls and that is your business than I'd much rather use Skype.

Buying a bunch of Magic Jacks just seems wasteful. Especially considering a certain % of the agents that use your service won't last very long. Now you have a bunch of Magic Jacks just sitting around....:goofy:

Yes, there is another reason to do this... it is commonly called:

Call reluctance -or- Fear of the telephone!

It is amazing how many people who are sales people are stricken with this affliction. But give them a pre-set appt and they are golden to go out an do the sit-down presentation. Just another of the many facets of the psychological make up of a salesman.

I can respect that. If you are reluctant on the phone or fear the phone than that WILL come across when you call and try to make an appointment and might possibly cost you the appointment.

If a "professional" can set the appointment for you for $12 than you theoretically might make more money because you got the appointment in the first place and didn't blow it.

Yes conquering your fear of the phone would make more sense and be cheaper....but same goes for changing your own oil in your car :)

I have never hired someone to do my appointments from lead cards. In my area I average only 6 cards per 1000. If I thought that an appointment setter could increase the ratio I would probably do it or at least try it and see. I no longer mail in large quantities because I do not work full time, (full time funeral director). If the telemakter is really good it might pay off at $12 per appt. But most agents say they can set more on their own than a telemarketer.

That and maybe call procrastination. If you have an appointment you have to go.

That is my thinking also. I am good at ferreting out info and hot buttons. Also I like knowing all I can before I go in. It is usually just a matter of getting ink and a voided check then. I have to give props to the guys that wing it in the house though. That sounds like the majority of the FE guys.

I just could not see why someone would pay someone else to make a dozen calls a week. Unless they have so much business that their time is better spent in the field. That would make sense.

I wonder how they would do if you gave them 100 aged leads :D

I don't have a long track record to report but I have a real professional telemarketer that set 6 appointments from aged leads for me one day and it resulted in 4 sales. Aged leads are going to be in my marketing plan for a long time, I think.
