I'm on the other side of the country, but I know Florida is a mess right now. Can you provide some more details about what you're trying to write and why it has to be admitted?

I am trying to write new construction homes, but we need the Admitted Market in order to stay competitive.

I did a little research, it looks like Nationwide and Travelers may still be writing policies there?

Even so, at the alarming rate that carriers are leaving, you might write a bunch of policies that end up non-admitted soon if Florida can't do something to stop the bleeding

I'd definitely be interested in an update as to what you find out. Florida's insurance market is national news

I would be surprised if these insurers are adding appts right now. Perhaps if you already had a book of bus with them, but new business? My guess would be the fringe insurers are going to be your best bet here.

Carrier appointments are very difficult right now. You would need a large, established book with a low loss ratio just to be considered.

Your first appointment, if you don't already have it, should be Citizens, the state-run "insurer of last resort" (even though they are usually the cheapest, sometimes by thousands). They will be the go-to for most homes. For new houses (5yo or less), you could look at Tower Hill, ASI/Progressive, maybe Southern Oak. But again, you might have to fight for those appointments.

30 years in the biz in Fl. I am retired now, but I read my journals daily and keep up my CE. There may be no admitted carriers writing, let alone appointing and tasking on more risk, but if there's a path to a carrier, it's one somebody else is writing. See who your competitors are writing with. Look them up and see their appointments. It's doesn't mean they are writing, but if you hear another agent is placing business, your can find out who it's with. You'll have to carefully sort through all their appointments, but you'll recognize many of their carriers they are appointed with and know the kind of business they write, if homeowners is part of it. [EXTERNAL LINK] - Licensee Search The only other think is to follow new carrier authorizations to write business in Fl. I forget where it is on the site, but it's here. www.floir.com Don't expect to see many, if any, looking to open up shop in Fl. You could also try the remaining takeout carriers. Some write business. The state has a list, but it's not scrubbed of the defunct carriers. [EXTERNAL LINK] - Take-out Companies It waas just like this after both Andrew and Charley. This will pass, carriers will slowly open...and down the road, the cycle repeats. Almost all my carriers are out of business or left Florida...I think ASI is still here. I hope this helps. Anyway, good luck!
