I just had my first death claim with a Foresters client in the contestability period, actually first death claim with Foresters ever.

How difficult are they to deal with on these? I know they can be a bear on most other things.

It's not complicated at all. You fill out an agent report, they deny it. Done and done.

Probably won't be that way for you but I've had 2 declines from them last year. Tried to fight for it but they just said that "a review of the medical records revealed that one of the questions on the application, blah blah blah." Hopefully mine were the exception rather than the rule.

Unfortunately I had another agent from the forum call me today about this post. he said he didn't want to talk bad about a company on the forum, but that his opinion was that Foresters was the worst he had ever dealt with on death claims.

Hopefully both of you just had bad experiences and it's not a pattern. I know how difficult they can be be on everything else. That's why I posed the question. I got the answer I was afraid of, but was hoping for different.

They denied one on me for me based on lying on the app. I didn't argue much because it was a very easy, high premium sale and when I thought back on the sale, it made sense that they had done so. Nice big unexpected chargeback when I was getting started, too.

These companies do a phone interview at POS and put them throught eh ringer. A lie should be caught then. I've never dealt with Foresters on a claim, but I have with many other companies. They underwrite things at calim that they didn't underwrite at application.

That's just wrong!!

Last year I had a claim on a Foresters plan right policy. The customer died about 10 days after the first payment drafted. Obviously, Foresters sent some questions to his doctor, they paid the claim.

I write a decent amount of foresters. They seem to work well. Ill see you guys in Fiji. :)

glad to hear about good responses by Foresters.

Fiji sounds fun but i missed the boat...

I had one claim, years ago on a term policy. They did an aps and denied the claim. When I told the widow she was not even slightly surprised or upset so I assumed they were trying to pull one. Can't fault Foresters for that one.

Had 3 planright claims in 2011, all in contestable period. They paid all 3 within a couple wks. On one, the policy was held for 1 yr and the death claim was 20k. Wife got check in 2 wks, and took out coverage on herself with me with Foresters shortly after, also 20k and nice premium.

Ill be in Fiji as well, looking forward to it. Their convention last yr was awesome, some great guys on that trip.

Agreed. Same crap happened to me last year. I talked to 3 different people there to explain how you don't underwrite the application until the person is already dead!
