They're close but not quite the same.

STC is more transitional. From hospital to the home. Usually a few weeks.

HHC is more long range. After you get home and can last a year or more.

Most supplemental companies have them. GTL, Aetna and Heartland have them. Humana says they have one but I haven't looked at it.

Don't not forget Manhattan (Standard Life and Casualty). Mine has paid me in excess of $32K so far. Just filed another claim today. When you consider the premium is offset by a $600 per RX reimbursement per year.

One of my beefs is it seems these policies rarely pay out.

Either the weasel language negates the claim, or the PH forgets to file a claim until after the time limit runs out

I would expect agents to keep track of claims and know how to work the system, but how many seniors are organized enough to track and file claims.

I have folks who don't access their MyMedicare account to follow claims.

I don't find any weasel language in the policy. As for remembering to file the claim that is up to the insured. Of course they need to I have an agent that will guide them through the process. I contact the HHC agency each month and have them to send me an invoice. Manhattan has a simple document upload for filing claims or you can mail them in.
