Rumor has it this RINO may join the Dumbocrats on the Health Care vote before he retires. I actually just got thru to his office where the secretary said he will not , but he needs to be bombarded today at 202-224-3353. Pass this on!

Could definitely happen. If Brown pulls this off, the Democrats will be throwing absolutely everything against the wall, regardless of the opinions of We The People, regardless of the clear message they're already gotten on the MA election.

I wouldn't be doing a Happy Dance any time soon.

.

I would be surprised. Here are a few of his statements a while back:

"Americans watching the health care debate in Washington as they prepare to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ with their families know that today's action will have far-reaching consequences on their lives and our entire economy. That is why they, like I, oppose this bill. It is not reform and it is not what the American people want.

"The two-trillion dollar spending bill rushed through by the Democrats cuts Medicare, raises taxes, increases premiums for health insurance, places additional burdens on states and threatens the health choices that millions currently enjoy. At a time when Ohio's unemployment rate is at 10.6 percent, new health care legislation should first do no harm to the economy.

"Instead, the Democrats are raising taxes by more than half-a-trillion dollars. Paying for health care reform by placing these additional financial burdens on American families and small businesses will further impede our ability to compete in the global marketplace and, ultimately, our economic recovery.

"This bill is full of budget gimmicks to mask its true cost of nearly $2.3 trillion over 10 years when fully implemented. The bill will cut Medicare by $467 billion, which will impact health coverage for our seniors. I am particularly troubled by these cuts as the current Medicare program is already on shaky footing and expected to be insolvent by 2017, with $37 trillion in unfunded liabilities. I do not understand how my colleagues think we can do more when we cannot even afford what we have now. Additionally, I cannot support this bill because it directly and indirectly allows taxpayer dollars to be used to pay for abortions.

"Something as enormous and complex as health care reform should have been accomplished through bipartisanship and complete transparency. I pray, along with many of my constituents, that the American people will take time over the holidays to read the final Senate and House health reform bills and continue to let their voices be heard as the chambers prepare to reconcile their differences and complete work on final health care legislation. That will be our last opportunity to pull the emergency brake on this fiscal train-wreck."

The only thing that will hurt the dems more in the next election than not passing the bill will be if they do pass it.

Do whatever you frigging need to do at this point. There is no way out of this lobster trap. Use reconciliation or bribery or parliamentary sleight of hand or whatever.

There is a growing body of pundits who beleive that the best thing that could happen for the dems now is for the bill to be tabled. It might hurt Obama's prestige but it would save them from having to go down with the ship. I dont buy that theory 100% but I do to the extent that it confirms the idea that there is no pretty way out now.

They have passed the point of no return. Just keep on keeping on. Do what you have to. Republicans will just stand back and let them continue to self destruct. Dems will whine that that means they are not helping and that is true. They have no obligation to clean this mess up. They do have an obligation to lean into it if they table everything and go back to drawing board in my view but they dont have to help them out of this mess.

I dont think this scenario changes even if Brown loses today. The election is a bellwether that the dems are in deep, deep doo-doo even if coakley squeaks by. Obama carried the state by 26% for Gods sake just a year ago.

I'm hoping that Liebermann will be the "voice of reason" and stop a rush vote being crammed in before Brown is confirmed, or if someone decides to be a traitor and jump ship like Voinovich.

Nahh, let em pass it or not pass it. Clean it up after the next election. If they like playing shuffleboard on the deck of the Titanic, fine. Everyone needs a little relaxation.

Rhinos and Dems are bastardizing the entire process. Its not political gamesmanship anymore - just outright fraud with the payoffs to states and special treatment of unions. Change nobody believes in anymore.

Normally I would agree, but the repeal process is such a PITA that I don't want to have to go through.
