Normally I would agree, but the repeal process is such a PITA that I don't want to have to go through.
Oh, all the better. Let's see, one choice is go through reconciliation. Another is to pass the bill as is even though it will alienate 80% of the country. Now you have the dems locked into having supported a non-democratic process on one hand or a pork/fraud/junk bill on the other. Don't be surprised if they start falling all over themselves to amend it before the election but as you say it is hard to amend. That's what they go into the election with. Whose fault is that?
You change the composition of the house and senate and it becomes easier to amend. We are not talking about repubs crossing over now. We are talking about dems wanting to cross over to support a bill that will save their seats. Congress is thinking about Congress now. Not Obama. They did his dirty work out on the front lines and got butchered. That is true regardless of the outcome of the Mass election.
I am not saying it is pretty. I am saying it isnt. It is a complete mess. But that is good. Not looking for a total disaster. Just enough to take it back to the drawing board. I support health reform, just not Obamacare. Let em own the whole thing for a few weeks and see how it works our for them.
And, not to forget......the public has long passed the point where it is up for a daily soap opera about health reform. It is about the economy. They can either move to table it fast and furious and efficiently or just let it hang there for election fodder. Works for me either way.
