For instance I think in Arkansas age of majority is 10 because that's when they start losing teeth due to Mountain Dew

Forgive me if this is elementary. If the grandparent is the owner/payor and the grandchild is the insured. When the grandparent dies, where does the ownership transfer to?

There is not one answer. It's going to vary by company and by state. Sometimes ownership will revert to the insured and sometimes a new owner must be named.

A contingent owner named is the only way to know for sure how it will go.
