I have to say that I like the coverages provided, and in some areas that I sell in, their prices are very competitive.. that being said, their attitude towards training and providing information regarding their various products in an easy to use manner for the agents selling their products simply sucks ass when compared to other carriers.

Our guy has been helpful on the phone, couldn't really ask any more from him. It's just the availability of information on the web site that is making me nuts. I'd much prefer to be able to get information myself rather than keep asking him.

I think Hartford does a very good job! Go online to their website and order marketing materials. They have an awesome slide-rule type marketing piece (# 107622) for the HO-3 and HO-5 Advantage and Advantage Plus and on the other side has specific coverage differences for their auto program. Its a GREAT piece! These coverages blow away the captive (State Farm, Allstate, Farmers.....) offerings. Just remember Hartfords HO-3 does NOT include an HO-15 rider like most independents offerings, so quote the HO-5 for less than $100 more!

What state are you in kman? I don't see 107622 in Hartford's iMarket.

My office represents Hatford, but their PL rates are way high in IL, so I haven't sold much.

As an independent working with about 15 different companies, it's definitely a challenge to find and organize all that information. What I do is keep a "cheat" file for each one, both on my computer and in a hanging file. On the computer I keep things like UW guidelines, product rules, billing processes, etc that I can access very easily as needed.

In the paper file, I keep things like commission schedules, product updates, telephone directories, etc. It seems to work well for me. So whenever I need to look something up for that specific carrier I can go right to the folder. If I can't find what I'm looking for, I make sure I save it in the folder so I don't have to go hunting for it next time.

Is Hartford competitive in California?

Occasionally. They are usually only good for a package for insureds over 40.

Written a couple more with them since Travelers took a rate increase near the end of last year.

They are great if you are selling earthquake with the HO3. Usually cheapest around.
