Health Care Debate Lies

Does anyone get annoyed at the outright lies regarding health insurance coverage that have been told throughout the debate?

I had a lady ask me this morning about insurer's dropping your coverage when surgery is required. I told her that it was a stupid lie told by politicians, and she didn't like it, but that's okay with me. The largest claim that I've had paid in the last 6.5 years was on a new customer that had the policy for 5 months, and no prior coverage.

It doesn't seem that public figures with a voice refute a lot of this crap, why?

Because they don't know how it works. I must have had half the people that bought from me in the past 6 months ask the same question about being dropped.

I get annoyed at all the anecdotal stories told by the politicians who support this reform from the President on down. Most of these stories simply do not ring 100% true. Never does the harmed person bear any responsibility for the unfair treatment by the terrible insurance companies.

I have come to believe that most constituents embellish their personal stories when they relate them to their local politician. These stories then receive further embellishment by the politicians to fit their needs as they campaign for reform.

You mean talking points like the fact that Natoma Canfield HAD health insurance and a history of cancer, but dropped coverage.

BTW, she qualifies for Medicaid.

Somehow that never got pressed.
