Health Care Reform W/o Govt Intervention

What we have been hearing out of the house and senate this week is a huge step away from a gov. health plan.

government cannot manage, medicare, va benefits and nothing that has remotely to do with healthcare and they are looking at trying to have government manage healthcare for everyone.... right... good luck with that

I am also afraid that it's a done deal. It's just really a matter of what the health insurance industry will look like coming out the back end of this reform. Any guesses?

Less jobs for one.

All depends on how badly California collapses in the next two months. Even though Obama is using his celebrity status to keep things rolling, the moderates, which is begining to include an increasing number of democrats will have a powerful example of how "more" can end out being "less" if you are not careful and overextend government programs. I do understand that this an obscure point to those who are on a roll or have totally acquiesced to the democratic majority but my view is that some scary stuff is going to be going on in California right while the dems are trying their hardest to convince folks that the government is the answer to everything. That turmoil will accrue to the benefit of the moderates.

It wont change the fact that reform is coming but it will dial back a few options they may try. My view anyway.

Word I got the other day is that CA is not only considering no new enrollments in Healthy Families (SCHIP), they are seriously considering shutting down the entire program.

I saw a clip of Arnold on CNN last night and it made my eyes roll around like a slot machine and two lemons came up. I just sat there saying "say what?"

Arnold was saying that CA may have to cut everything but they are not going to cut health care to illegals because federal law requires it. Okay, so far- so good, sorta. I mean I have issue on one level but if the state is getting some federal funds then that is the responsibility that goes with the gig.

Then the chowderhead goes on to say " and truthfully I am glad because if I were in a foreign country I would want to be able to get health care."

Say what?

Is he planning on being in a foreign country illegally and wants to be able to get health care. He makes no distinction between a citizen/resident and the obligations to an illegal. It is one thing to say the feds make you do it. It is another to say you think it is a good thing. Holy Guacamole. You California guys have more access to the local news. Tell me he didn't say that.

I'll have to go and look later for that soundbite.

So, they are going to shut down the SCHIP program (or at least close off new enrollments) but continue to cover illegal aliens?

Wow.

I should point out that I did not vote for Arnold, only voted for him as the choice if the previous governor was recalled, which I voted against (in case Gray Davis is reading this ;-)
