I have been reading numerous threads on this board over the last year or so. It seems many of those on the left tend to think the government is infallible on how they run Medicare. It’s almost like when a person turns 65 or goes on Medicare. They should be given some special class different classification from all the others because that’s the way it’s always been with Medicare, they believe in the Medicare world what a Dr or clinic says is the law without any oversight.

Let’s discuss how different insurance models work in this country.

1. Group Plans: These plans require members to use specific healthcare networks and follow certain rules. These networks and rules are established to manage costs and ensure quality care.

2. Affordable Care Act (ACA) Plans: These plans, available through government exchanges, also have designated networks and require co-pays for services. Users must adhere to specific procedures for their medical expenses to be covered.

3. Faith-Based Plans: Plans like Medi-Share, which are Christian-based, also impose their own regulations and guidelines. Members must follow these rules to benefit from the shared healthcare expenses.

4. Medicare: This government-funded program for seniors and certain disabled individuals often surprises people with its requirements, like pre-approval for some services with some MA plans (same rules with Group, ACA, and Christian Ministry the plans above). There's a misconception that Medicare should cover all expenses without oversight. However, the lack of strict accountability in Medicare has led to issues of waste, fraud, and abuse, with significant financial implications. It is estimated that Medicare fraud cost the American Tax payer $60 Billion each year.

The underlying issue across these systems is the balance between accessibility, cost management, and quality of care. Accountability in healthcare, whether in Medicare or private insurance, is crucial to prevent unnecessary treatments and financial exploitation. In many cases, seeking a second opinion can be a wise step for patients, ensuring necessary and effective medical care.

Just like all the programs that the left support where the government will be your protector and take care all of your needs be dammed with the cost.

Medicare needs to be overalled for sure. Keeping the current system the way it is not sustainable long term. I could give you many examples where a Dr has recommend a procedure that was totally made to enhance their bank statement.
