A study of bankruptcies in Massachussets before and after their health care reform shows only a very slight drop in medical bankruptcies.

Duh. They increased the VOLUME of people enrolled, but premiums spiked and the benefits weren't any better than before reform. Also, when the primary breadwinner is sick, there's usually a loss of income. Most medical bankruptcies are caused by the loss of income, not particularly the size of the unreimbursed medical bills.

Change you can believe in.

It is amazing how no one ever mentions the income loss being the cause of the bankruptcies. Politicians would rather blame insurance companies. Maybe they should mandate di instead of health.

Much better to blame the carrier since personal responsibility (savings, disability insurance, etc.) is not in vogue.
