Hello From a Past Allstate Agent!

Hello All!

My name is Ethan Peyton, and I used to be an Allstate agent.

I opened the agency in 2014, and long story short, closed it in 2016.

Since then, I started a website dedicated to making the insurance licensing process easy.

Since the rules are pretty clear on this, I won't be advertising the site here , but I hope to be able to come on board, and read what people are talking about, and having issues with.

If I can get some great info from the folks here, it will help me make my own information more valuable to upcoming licensees.

Thanks for the help, everyone!

I have to ask, and I'm sure this is what you wanted anyway, what is so difficult about the licensing process? Each state is different, but Tennessee was very easy.

You have the answer written into your question. Every state is different.

Tennessee is fairly straight forward, but some of the other states aren't put together as well as this. The website instructions can either be vague, difficult to find, or just inexistent.

The other thing that lots of folks tend to get tripped up on is the exam. Some of these people haven't taken a "test" since high school. It can be kind of a scary process if you let it get to you.

So yes, licensing isn't difficult, I'm just trying to make it even easier. :)

Ethan,

Does Allstate require their agents to sign a post termination non-compete agreement?

If I remember correctly, I signed a non-compete when I signed the contract.

I believe that my employees also had to sign upon entering the agency. I did not, however, have them sign one specific to our agency. That is, however, at the discretion of the agency owner.

Tell us about your All-Snakes experience! Welcome!

Without going into too much detail, I'll just say that expectations were aligned on both sides of the bargain. Not completely their fault, not completely mine.

Wow, you are sticking someone with a lot of payroll right out the door, plus the expense of an office to house that many people.

VolAgent,
There are certain steps that need to be taken with timelines in place. There's an entire Dept. Dedicated to just that. Walking them through each step. As far as licensed sales professionals. that's what I recruit for. If anyone knows anyone in the Houston area that is General Lines P&C licensed please send them my info. or vice versa. I work with over 100 new and existing agents in the Houston/Beaumont area. and can find them work almost immediately!
