Hello! I'm a New Agent and Love This Forum.

Thank you for the welcomes :) You are all so funny!

So far I have observed that most believe being independent agent is better than being a captive agent. I'm still trying to sort out what type of ins. to sell. I'm thinking Final Expense to start and add other services from there. Is anyone using a Final Expense company or companies that they like? I've seen posts on which ones to stay away from but trying to figure which ones are good to go with.

I'm looking forward to the knowledge that you all share on this site.As a newbie, it is much appreciated.

Ps: what's a DOM?

You may want to look more deeply into selling FE as a beginning point.

Look at the demographics of where you will find the majority of your best prospects.

The cross selling opportunities to the typical person who is interested in purchasing a FE plan.

The persistency and charge back potential of the policies you sell.

The renewal percentages as a potential income stream.

How you intend to market FE? Knocking on doors, purchasing leads, setting appointments or attempt to sell over the phone.

Whether or not you want to sell FE face to face or attempt to sell it over the phone. (It can be a difficult phone sale for all but the most experienced agents I have been told.)

It's a phrase that I haven't heard used in quite a while. DOM=Dirty Old Man. Mea culpa!:twitchy:

Oh, LOL I thought a DOM
might be an insurance acronym. So many are used on this site and I'm trying to figure out what they stand for.

But I hate to tell you it isn't humor. It's misspelling and serious character flaws.
Sad, but true  Arn is like 89 years old and sold insurance during the Spanish-American War where he learned spelling and grammar from Teddy Roosevelt. Rick (Greensky) has a CA Insurance license number 0000002. Frank has a 'thing' for goats which I won't go into here. Me, still dumb enough to sell IFP health insurance under ObamaCare (or as Somarco calls it, 'ObamaCrap'). Chumps from Oxford keeps telling me to "get out now" but I am just too stubborn to listen to him. I do contribute to his 'Groats Disease' foundation at least $1 per year. Ann H rocks and lets the character flaws roll off of her back. Sadly, she insists on living in AZ instead of CA.

Anyway, welcome to the insurance biz and I think that if you sort through all of the misspellings and character flaws you will find some good information. Since my last California 'mentee' insists on selling car insurance (ugh!), I am available to assist and answer questions if either of you want to call me. My toll-free number is on my web site. Just don't go selling fire insurance or some damned thing
;)
