Hi Everyone,
Pretty green so be kind. My wife is an insurance agent and currently trying to get her 220 license. We want to start a new agency and need advice as to which direction to go. She has worked with a Brightway agency for the last 2 years selling Property and Auto mainly.
Is a franchise like Brightway, Great Florida, All; State, State Farm etc a good choice. i know there is always a franchise fee but for a new agency they will provide the startup support needed.

Should we start a independent agency? But how will we get appointments with the insurance companies? i believe it is very difficult to get registered with an established insurance company since they need experience?

Should i go with Clusters such as Insurance noodle, Insure zone, etc OR Wholesalers?

Need to know the difference between clusters and wholesalers also, remember i am GREEN

Any help in the right direction will be greatly appreciated!!

In my opinion, the best thing to do if you're just starting out is to start with an Independent Marketing Organization. There you will get free training from A-Z on everything you need to know about selling, prospecting and closing.

Franchises are good but as far as I've seen, the training and support doesn't compare. I've seen many agents leave and switch over to an IMO after years of owning franchises.

Besides training and support, you have access to many carriers, all of your marketing materials and payroll are provided for you.

A Franchise will give you support on getting started with running an office but they don't teach you how to actually make money. You can't beat the power of having an IMO behind you.

Which Independent Marketing Organization can you suggest? Will they be able to get me appointments with the Insurance Carriers?

The IMO will get you appointed with all the carriers that they represent. You can email me if you need more info. My email address is my username @yahoo.
